CORAL SPRINGS, FL, June 06, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/
-- From the shape of your jaw to if you sucked your thumb as a child, there are many factors that influence your dental alignment. If you were not born with perfectly straight teeth or experienced an injury that affected your dental alignment, an option exists as to how to straighten your teeth without noticeable braces: Invisalign.
"Invisalign therapy allows patients to straighten their teeth by wearing a series of invisible dental aligners that make slow, progressive changes in the teeth," says Dr. Paulo Sarria, a Coral Springs, FL Invisalign dentist. "Because wearing Invisalign does not require noticeable braces, they are an excellent choice for professionals."
Invisalign is a good option for patients with mild to moderate dental issues-even severe cases, as well. If a proper treatment plan is created and maintained with the right tools, we can treat severe cases and not just mild to moderate cases. After taking a mold of your teeth, Dr. Sarria can use Invisalign technology to help determine how your teeth will look after Invisalign treatment. If you are satisfied with the potential results, then Dr. Sarria will send the mold to the Invisalign laboratory where your first sets of dental aligners will be created.
You will wear each set of aligners for two weeks at a time, periodically switching them out for new ones. You must wear the aligners for at least 23 hours a day for them to be most effective and to see your desired results.
For the right patient, Invisalign offers a number of benefits over traditional braces. First, their see-through nature means they are not as noticeable as metal braces. A person would have to get extremely close to you to view the aligners and even then may not find them easily seen. This makes Invisalign a subtle way to straighten your teeth and experience results.
Because the aligners can be removed, you do not have to change your diet to straighten your teeth. Many foods can become stuck in traditional braces, such as corn or chewy candies. However, if you are eating these food types, all you must do is simply remove your Invisalign aligners. The same is true for brushing and flossing your teeth.
While every person is certainly different in their treatment methods, Invisalign treatment time typically takes anywhere from 9 to 15 months while metal braces can take 18 to 24 months.
"I encourage any patients who desire a straighter smile to come in for an Invisalign evaluation," says Dr. Sarria, a Coral Springs, FL dentist. "I can work with him or her to determine the best treatment course."
