/24-7PressRelease/ -- Attention Talk Radio presents "Audio Stimulation: Its Impact on Neuroplasticity to Help Treat ADHD and Autism" with show host, Jeff Copper, in an interview of Dr. Ron Minson of Integrated Listening Systems (iLs) on how the iLs program impacts neuroplasticity, which is an often overlooked form of treatment. Copper also interviews Rebecca Goniwich, certified iLs advanced practitioner, who shares how the iLs program helps her manage her own ADHD, as well as her two sons' ADHD and autism.
Dr. Minson has a unique background in public health, family practice, and psychiatry. He received his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine and is board-certified in psychiatry and neurology. His general medical background includes serving as a Peace Corps physician, family physician, and medical director of fifty physicians at a metropolitan neighborhood health center. After completing his psychiatric residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, he established a private practice and later served as chief of psychiatry for Presbyterian Medical Center and as director of Behavioral Sciences at Mercy Hospital in Denver.
In 1990 he became certified in Dr. Tomatis' method of sound stimulation by Dr. Alfred Tomatis himself in Paris, following a heartfelt search for a way to help his daughter, who suffered for years with a severe learning disability. "Research shows the most effective ADHD treatments are comprehensive methods, and the idea is to affect the targeted areas of the brain in as many different ways as possible," states Dr. Minson. "Traditional treatments have included behavioral treatment or coaching and medication, but what is often overlooked are ways to increase the neuroplasticity of the brain to allow the physical brain to change and optimize its functioning." Dr. Minson is dedicated to continuing the work of the late Dr. Alfred Tomatis through his own research and experimentation, as well as the musical and sound engineering expertise of his staff.
Rebecca Goniwich is a mother devoted to helping her three, young adult children of whom two have the diagnosis of ADHD or severe autism. She considers herself to be blessed with a diagnosis of ADHD and uses the "gift" to dedicate her considerable energy to improving the lives of families touched by disability. For twenty years, Rebecca has passionately and tirelessly committed herself to championing the cause of those who find themselves caught up in the complex world of special needs. She is a knowledgeable special education consultant/parent advocate and has served on numerous local and statewide committees. As a sought-after speaker, Rebecca teaches classes on the topic of behavior and alternative therapies. These classes are the result of Rebecca's wealth of experience as a certified iLs practitioner and positive behavior support coach. After 13 years in Boston, Rebecca and her husband Alan have returned to Florida's Tampa Bay area.
The program will be aired live on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 8 pm ET.
