Attorney Nels Ackerson Honored for Excellence in Law

    WASHINGTON, DC, October 28, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nels Ackerson is recognized nationally and internationally for his dedication, leadership and excellence in law.

Nels Ackerson's law firm, Ackerson Kauffman Fex, focuses on commercial, financial, constitutional, and property rights litigation and related legal services. Individual cases and class actions have also included issues of agricultural finance, international disputes, civil rights, and intellectual property. Mr. Ackerson began his law practice in Indiana. He also was appointed Chief Counsel of the U.S Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, with responsibilities involving civil and constitutional rights, Title IX, intellectual property, judicial appointment confirmations, agricultural issues, and alternative energy. Prior to starting the law firm now named Ackerson Kauffman Fex, Mr. Ackerson was a partner in Sidley Austin and the founder and managing partner of the first American law firm's office in Egypt, where he also was President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

Looking back, Mr. Ackerson became involved in the legal profession as a result of his involvement in the civil rights movement while in college and also his election as national president of the Future Farmers of America (now named the National FFA Organization).

Mr. Ackerson received the degree of Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review, and he received the degree of Master in public policy from Harvard University. Purdue University, Mr. Ackerson's undergraduate college, also recently awarded its honorary degree of Doctor of Agriculture to Mr. Ackerson in recognition of his representation of agricultural and property rights interests. Mr. Ackerson has participated in the World Economic Forum, has been recognized as a Super Lawyer, is a member of the International Society of Barristers, has been listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World, and has been inducted into Worldwide Registry Mr. Ackerson enjoys spending time with his family, including four children and eight grandchildren. He also enjoys traveling, writing, participating in church activities, continuing his lifelong interest in his family farm in Indiana, and engaging in issues to improve public policy.
