Mr. Barr, owner of the Law Offices of William L. Barr, Ltd. in Chicago, practices personal injury law specializing in auto, truck and aviation accidents, workers' compensation, defective drugs, product liability and medical malpractice. During his legal career that spans more than 30 years, Mr. Barr has served in courtrooms from the U.S. Supreme Court to trial courtrooms in five states, and in cases ranging from constitutional conflicts to broken bones on behalf of clients ranging from national labor unions to injured children.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Brown University in 1970. After graduating from Brown he served on the USS Jason AR-8 in the Western Pacific for two years. He then earned his JD degree with distinction from John Marshall Law School in 1976, where he was a member of its Law Review and participated in its Moot Court program.

After passing the Illinois Bar Exam in 1976, Mr. Barr clerked for Justice John M. O'Connor Jr. of the Illinois Appellate Court for one year before he began successfully representing injured people in Cook County courtrooms. After twelve years he joined the law firm of Bell, Boyd & Lloyd as a partner.

Mr. Barr is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Kansas, as well as, the United States Supreme Court, the Seventh Circuit and the Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and serves on the appellate division of Chicago Bar Association's Judicial Evaluation Committee.

Mr. Barr has lectured before members of the Chicago Bar Association in programs arranged by its Committee on Continuing Legal Education, conducted trial practice seminars as part of the Chicago Corporation Counsel's continuing in-house training program and participated as teacher for the Chicago Coalition for Law-Related Education in its Trial Advocacy Competition for Chicago-area high school students. He currently is an Adjunct Professor of Law and teaches at the John Marshal Law School.

In February 2015 Mr. Barr was admitted to practice law in Kansas. In April he will combine his Illinois office with the law offices of Brad Pistotnik, a renowned Wichita trial lawyer and member of the Kansas Association for Justice Board of Governors. Together they will continue their work representing seriously injured people and the families of victims of wrongful death in Illinois, Kansas and Oklahoma.
