NORFOLK, VA, July 22, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Virginia personal injury law firm Kalfus & Nachman today announced that two of the firm's attorneys have been the subject of appointments to two prestigious organizations. Partner Richard Aufenger III has received a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, and associate attorney Christopher I. Jacobs was reappointed by the City of Virginia Beach to the Beaches and Waterways Advisory Commission.

"Our firm is focused on benefiting the community not only through legal services but also by volunteering our time outside of the courtroom," said Paul Hernandez, an attorney at Kalfus & Nachman. "Whether it's at the local or national level, nominations like these demonstrate our lawyers' commitment to service in both the professional and personal realms."

Martindale-Hubbell is a legal services company that directs Web users to attorneys in the United States and Canada. According to the company website, Peer Review Ratings are designed to be "an objective indicator of a lawyer's high ethical standards and professional ability" as determined by peers within the legal profession. Martindale-Hubbell "periodically and randomly" reviews the peer ratings an attorney has received in order to establish an accurate Peer Review Rating.

Aufenger received a Peer Review Rating of 4.8 out of a possible 5. This score places him "at the highest level of professional excellence" based on the input of other attorneys, according to the Martindale-Hubbell website.

Jacobs began his reappointment to the Beaches and Waterways Advisory Commission of Virginia Beach on July 1. He will serve on the commission until June 30, 2018.

The commission reviews and makes recommendations on issues before the Virginia Beach City Council related to use and preservation of the city's beaches and waterways. Membership on the commission is voluntary, and members serve terms of three years.
