Audrey Ronning Topping has more than 50 years of industry experience to her credit. She was the first Western journalist to report the archaeological discovery of the life-size clay army buried in 221 BC to protect Qin Shihuangdi, the first emperor of China. Her illustrated articles of the amazing find included cover stories for National Geographic, Horizon Magazine, New York Times and many others. Ms. Topping was the first Westerner to photograph China's Premier Zhou Enlai, published world-wide including covers of LIFE, Time, Newsweek. She also photographed Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, the Dalai Lama, India's Prime Minister Nehru and Indira Gandhi, the Shah of Iran, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, King Hussain of Jordan, Prime Minister Golda Meir of Israel and many other world leaders. She was also the first American journalist to report from Inner Mongolia and Xingjian. She worked as a free-lance writer and photojournalist for many major publications including as a columnist for Earth Times since 1996, Prior to these appointments New York Times Magazine published 25 of her stories from Russia, China and Egypt from 1966 to 2008. She was a special correspondent for the Houston Chronicle from 1997 to 2001. Ms. Topping worked as a writer and photographer for the National Geographic Society from 1971 to 1979. She is presently the feature editor for WAG Magazine.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Topping pursued an education with coursework at the Augustana University College from 1943 to 1946, the University of Nanking, China from 1947 to 1948, the University of British Columbia from 1949 to 1950, and the Berlin Art Institute from 1956 to 1958. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Arts from Rider College in 1983, honorary Doctor of Letters from Adelphi University and Wilfrid Laurier University, in Canada, both in 2009.

Beyond her efforts within the field, Ms. Topping has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. In 2008, she held the role of honorary professor of journalism at Southwest University, as well as honorary professor at Yunnan University. She helped produce an NBC TV documentary in Moscow called "The Kremlin" in 1962 and was assistant producer for "The Forbidden City" in China in 1972. She worked for NBC TV as commentator when President Nixon went to China in 1972. Ms. Topping was a television screenwriter for "China Mission" in 1975, and stared in the Chinese television series "Homecoming" in 2002. In 1997, Ms. Topping was commentator and writer for the PBS documentary "Great Wall across the Yangtze."

Ms. Topping found much success with her creative endeavors. She is also an artist who exhibited her sculpture and paintings in The Royal Institute Gallery in London, Westchester and Hubei, China. She has authored seven books including "Dawn Wakes in the East" in 1972, "The Splendors of Tibet" in 1981, "Charlie's World" in 2000. Ms. Topping penned the award-winning "China Mission: A Personal History from Imperial China to the People's Republic." Most recently she composed A Pictographic Memoir: "China's Reincarnation of THE OLD SILK ROAD to THE NEW SILK ROAD AND BEYOND," published in 2018 by Yunnan University Press in Chinese and English.

Her photography has been featured in exhibitions at a myriad of esteemed galleries around the world, including the Hallmark Gallery in 1973, Metropolitan Museum of Art 1975, Royal Ontario Museum in 1980, The Royal Bhutan United Nations Embassy in 2003-4, the Hammond Museum in 2005, the Gallery at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in 2006, and the International Center for Journalists in 2008.

In addition to her primary trade, Ms. Topping remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Society of Woman Geographers, Asia Society and the Foreign Policy Association. Ms. Topping has also maintained involvement with the Fox Meadow Tennis Club and the Summit Junior Fortnightly Club.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Topping has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her impressive career. In 2013, she was presented with an Excellence Award as well as the Prose Prize Award from American Publishing. Previously, she garnered the Alumni Award from Augustana University College in 1989, the Medallion Award from Westchester Community College in 1989, the Greenway Winship Award from the International Center for Journalists in 2000, and the Century Old Photo Award from Xiangfan, China, in 2009. Ms. Topping has been selected for inclusion in many editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. She is married to Seymour Topping, former Managing Editor of The New York Times and Administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes. They have five daughters born in four different countries: Indochina, England, Germany and USA.
