Aussie Gamer Plays Too Much, Gets Hit With $6k Internet Bill
If you thought being griefed while playing a game was bad, be thankful that you've never been griefed by your Internet provider. Unfortunately, Aussie gamer Justin Cavanagh wasn't so lucky when he opened his mail one day and found an Internet bill surpassing the $6,000 mark.

HAARLEM,THE NETHERLANDS, January 27, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- During Christmas break, Justin had friends come over, and they hooked computers up to the net so that they could all play "Battleground Europe" together. I don't know how much bandwidth the game eats up, but they must have played an awful lot of marathon sessions as it forced him to overshoot his monthly limit by 38GB. The result? An Internet bill for $6,041.

Thankfully, his provider, Telstra, decided to waive the bill as a "gesture of good faith." (Surely it had nothing to do with multiple Australian news agencies contacting them about the ludicrous Bill from Hell.)

Still, let it serve as a grim reminder: if you're on capped bandwidth, make sure to check it every now and then. Especially if you play lots of MMOs. Otherwise, you too may be freaking out trying to figure out how you're going to explain a four figure Internet bill to your family.
