SHEFFIELD, UK, January 29, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- The winners of the Autoworld Green Art Competition have been announced. The designs of Chantelle Siddall (15), of Bolsover School and Victoria Grist (14), of Clowne School were picked and used to transform what is fast becoming one of Britain's most popular small cars, just in time for its first birthday.
The Green Art Competition, which was run in association with School Matters and involved nine secondary schools in the Chesterfield area, aimed to get pupils to think about what the environment means to them - and translate these ideas into designs. The competition has generated a great response from pupils, and the quality of entries made the judges' decision a difficult one. Autoworld's Cyrus Hulme was one of the judges, along with Ivan Hagger from School Matters. Cyrus said: "We were delighted with the interest in the competition and that so many local schoolchildren wanted to put their own mark on the Fiat 500. We are really pleased with the winning designs and think that they look absolutely brilliant."
Victoria and Chantelle were naturally excited to see their designs made 'real' by the Autoworld makeover experts and both happily received pink iPod Nanos as reward for their efforts. Their schools will be rewarded with an art workshop from Pete Barber, local community artist in the next few weeks. The transformed Fiat 500 is now on show in Autoworld's showroom along with a display of other competition entries.
