/24-7PressRelease/ - DUBAI, UAE, September 01, 2008 - AVI Electronics has announced its intention to expand its channel base in the region following a year of impressive growth. The move is part of further extension of AVI's regional business that has seen the company develop rapidly since it was established in 2006.
The outstanding sales achieved by AVI in a relatively short space of time has made suppliers and re-sellers sit up and take notice of a company that is now considered the region's leading specialist in projector lamp supplies.
According to AVI Managing Director, Mr. Avinash Dowlwani the reason for the success has been quite simple. He claims, "Our business strategy was to initially secure our supplier base to ensure we were able to deliver the product ex-stock and in volume to our regional customers. The projector lamp can be considered to be a consumable, except that it is quite expensive and end-users are understandably reluctant to hold spares especially as life-span depends greatly on usage and the quality of lamp in the first place. This in turn presents a problem to the sales channel, as they can be equally (and understandably) reluctant to hold stock on lamps.
The reason for this is two-fold, firstly the cost of lamps are quite high, so it can tie up quite a bit of cash holding stock of a relatively low stock-turn consumable. Secondly, what lamps to hold in stock? There are numerous manufacturers each with a list of lamp models as long as your arm covering current and legacy models.
When end users do need a new lamp, they need it quickly. Our aim was to deliver fast, ex-stock supply anywhere in the region at the lowest possible price to a wide network of reseller partners. The channel needs to have a one-stop shop for lamp supplies, a company that holds stock across a broad range of manufacturers and models and that is what we offer."
"The net effect for the channel is that they can offer better service to their customers and in the process achieving a higher retained margin," he added.
Mr. Dowlwani backs up his claim by reeling off a list of suppliers that includes, Sharp, Sanyo, NEC, Optoma and Projection Design to name but a few. "There are some regional markets that we are not able to sell into and we respect that. However we aim to convince our suppliers that working with AVI as a business partner also works in their interests, not just with respect to volume, but also in terms of cost and ease of ownership of their projector hardware," he added.
In the coming months Dowlwani also claims there will be a new even faster method for AVI to supply their channels that will help establish AVI as the most efficient and effective means of getting lamp supplies to the people who need them.
The growth of AVI Electronics LLC has been so rapid that Dowlwani concedes that the system still has some way to go before it runs as smoothly as planned. "At present we are addressing 85% of orders ex-stock, with delivery within 72 hours, the business model requires this to be 90% order fill based on the models we carry and 48 hours delivery, with a Blue Chip service targeting 24 hours anywhere in the region".
