Award Winning Children's Book Author Donna McDine Encourages Charity Book Donations

McDine is a very successful author of children's books who strives to ignite curiosity in children through reading. She strongly encourages all children's book authors to get involved in donating children's books to local charities

WILMINGTON, NC, January 08, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Numerous studies from both government and the private sector provide clear evidence that early reading skills are an investment in a child's future. Early reading skill development dramatically affects the quality of life for children as they grow into adulthood. Sadly, a recent article by Carole Dickerson on the Journal Standard website quoted a local social worker who stated that many of the parents in the homes she visits do not own a single children's book.

Award-winning children's book author Donna McDine finds that situation to be appalling. In response, she has announced that she will be donating books locally in the Tappan, NY area and intends to promote a children's book charity drive within her community. She encourages other authors of children's books of any appropriate genre to do the same.

"The bare essence of learning to read opens up the world of exploration to a child," McDine stated. "Across the curriculumn it is imperative children grow in their reading capability so success in their classes can be had. Without the fundamentals it is very difficult to progress successfully."

A multi-award winning author, Donna McDine has produced four early reader children's picture books: 'A Sandy Grave', 'Powder Monkey', 'Hockey Agony' and 'The Golden Pathway'. A fifth book is in the pipeline with Guardian Angel Publishing. McDine's awards include, but are not limited to:

Purple Dragonfly Book 2014 Awards 1st Place Picture Books 6 and Older for 'A Sandy Grave'
Readers Favorite 2012 International Book Awards Honorable Mention Children K-3rd General for 'The Golden Pathway'

78th Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition - Honorable Mention - Children's/Young Adult Fiction category for 'The Hockey Agony'
77th Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition - Honorable Mention - Children's/Young Adult Fiction category for 'The Golden Pathway'

and many more.

Donna is sharply aware of the need to promote literacy and to ignite the natural curiosity of children. She spends a great deal of time involved in school visits throughout her local region in New York and all over the USA via Skype. She also offers no-charge educators guides for three of her books and a number of activity guides. These guides help lead educators to develop lesson plans focused on a wide variety of subjects including Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, Health and Astronomy.

"I believe in 'paying it forward',"McDine concluded. "That one book donation may be all it takes to make a diffierence in a child's life. By encouraging the love of reading in our young muses their look of wonder as they bubble with excitement on their next reading journey swells my heart."
