THE WOODLANDS, TX, April 30, 2010
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Having endured his own challenges and setbacks from the recent recession, Vicente Yuste knows his experience is unfortunately all too common. Yuste, now Vice-President of Invectra Inc., his start-up advertising boutique firm that specializes in graphic design and internet marketing, has a timely piece of advice for small business owners weathering the current economic climate.
"When we have an economy like we have now, it's time for dreamers," offers Yuste. "It's time to take risks."
Prior to the recession, when $1M advertising campaigns were the norm, the award-winning Yuste lived quite comfortably. As Creative Director for Spain's Versus Graficas, he managed an account portfolio which included such high-profile clients as MaxFactor, Cadbury-Schweppes, Guinness and Heineken. He relocated to Houston in 2005, and after a successful stint with Hispanic Marketing Company Lopez Negrete, Yuste went on to receive six American Advertising Federation ADDY awards from the American Marketing Association for his work at Pennebaker.
In November 2008, at the onset of the economic recession, he was laid off from Pennebaker. His employment search led him to Darren Eiswirth, a web designer and search engine marketing guru. They formed Invectra Inc., but the recession was causing many of their clients to slash their marketing budgets. The challenge of entrepreneurship coupled with other, more personal trials, forced Yuste to do some soul-searching. "I almost threw in the towel in the winter of 2009," recalls Yuste.
While Yuste took a sabbatical in Spain, his partner continued to pursue clients. "Darren encouraged me to come back to Texas," says Yuste. "He believed that March would be the month when we would see a breakthrough."
Yuste returned to Houston, and, as Eiswirth predicted, by March, Invectra counted 15 jobs on the board, with at least two new client meetings a week. They also partnered with a third graphic designer, Jonathan Howard, who creates photo-quality prototype images and animation capabilities to provide 360 degrees of service to their clientele.
"Invectra's business model is to offer brand identity with a 'personal touch' and day-to-day client interaction," Yuste explained. With the economic upswing, a new location in Old Town Spring, and referrals coming from as far away as San Antonio, things appear to be looking up.
Yuste credits his faith in getting him through his hardest times. "God may make you swim, but He won't let you drown," he said.
