Fixed-wheel casters must swivel or pivot in order to change direction, often leading to wheels sticking in a certain position. Additionally, ball transfer units have a lower profile than most casters. This provides the fixture with a stationary appearance, while maintaining the ability to move to another section of the store if needed.
Due to the fact that
ball transfers are designed and manufactured for industrial purposes, they can also handle a significantly higher load capacity than casters designed for the retail industry. Perhaps the most attractive selling point for the ball transfer unit, however, is the cost.
