Denver, CO, October 26, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Barbara L. McCombs, Director of the Human Motivation, Learning, and Development (HMLD) Center and Senior Research Scientist of the University of Denver Research Institute, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education and research.

Dr. McCombs brings more than 37 years of professional experience to the University of Denver Research Institute. In charge of directing her HMLD research center, she excels in studying human behavior and motivation, and developing research-validated changes in education. She has developed a nonprofit website with colleagues at the University of Bristol that distributes her Learner-Centered Model and self-assessment tools for teachers and students in Grades K-3, 4-8, 9-12, and college. Her other responsibilities at the center include utilizing her affiliation with several new national and international networks and funders to launch her new website. She is also working with international scholars to take her research projects to a global scale. In the course of her work, Dr. McCombs has recently (2008, 2007) published two books for Corwin Press, "The School Leader's Guide to Learner-Centered Education: From Complexity to Simplicity" and "Learned-Centered Classroom Practices and Assessment: Maximizing Student Motivation, Learning and Achievement." She attributes her success to her perseverance and dedication to making a difference for all learners at all levels of the educational system.

A product of Florida State University, Dr. McCombs received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology in 1971. She is affiliated with the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association. She counts World Vision among her favorite charities.
