PITTSBORO, NC, March 22, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Mitchell Hoffman, Retired Director of Business Operations and Advocacy Strategy for GlaxoSmithKline, and Owner of BMH Consulting LLC, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Ms. Hoffman has spent more than 27 years in the pharmaceutical industry in various areas of increasing responsibility, including manager of pharmacy education, field professional affairs manager, director of business operations and advocacy strategy and director, alliance development and advocacy strategy. Through her creativity, she was able to implement various award-winning projects that benefited the pharmaceutical industry. After retiring from a very accomplished career with GlaxoSmithKline, Ms. Hoffman decided to open up her own pharmaceutical consulting company, BMH Consulting LLC. Her expertise is varied and extensive, and includes monitoring and reporting product access in all state Medicaid programs, and identifying and developing systems that allow for the reporting of formulary data and access/market share changes. She has developed and maintained an IT system to track and report pending legislation. In addition, she has worked with research & development and marketing teams to identify and develop alliances with advocacy organizations with a vested interest in new product development. Immediately prior to her retirement, she was developing a customer relationship management (CRM) tool for use in monitoring advocacy issues and contacts. Her previous area of expertise also includes identifying educational needs for health care professionals to assist in meeting re-licensure requirements and developing an innovative electronic delivery of educational programs and professional self-assessment tools that were unique in the industry. In addition, she developed a one-of-a-kind method of delivering accredited continuing pharmacy education programs at the local level. Written modules were also available for learners who preferred to complete home study modules. Ms. Hoffman attributes her success to the fact that she has learned about navigating the corporate environment and in identifying the needs of her customers and delivering what is needed in a way that meets the learning style and time constraints of the health care professional. She became involved in her profession because she has always been fascinated by medicine.

In 1967, Ms. Hoffman received a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a minor in Sociology and Psychology, from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. For her exemplary work in the field, she has won a H.A.B. Dunning Award from the American Pharmacists Association, the Corporate Recognition Award from NCPA, and the Henry B. Cade Award from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Additionally, she has won awards from the Texas Pharmaceutical Association.

In the coming years, Ms. Hoffman hopes to continue assisting people in designing systems and in advocacy consulting.
