Barbara N. Waldron to Be Profiled in Exclusive Registry

Barbara N. Waldron celebrates twenty four years as an Architectural Designer and ten years as a Chief Building Official; 2000-2007 with the Township of Asphodel-Norwood and 2007 to present with the Township of Otonabee South-Monaghan.



    HASTINGS, ON, CANADA, August 31, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara N. Waldron, owner and operator of Barbara N. Waldron, Drafting and Design and Chief Building Official for the Township of Otonabee South-Monaghan, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in the fields of architectural design and drafting and in the role of Chief Building Official.

Under the company name of Barbara N. Waldron, Drafting and Design, Ms. Waldron received her Diploma as an Architectural Drafting Technician from Loyalist College, Belleville, Ontario, in 1986. In addition to her formal education, she has obtained the certification of CBCO (Certified Building Code Official) and has obtained the qualifications in the categories of Building Services, Building Structural, House, HVAC House, Large Buildings, Plumbing All Buildings, Plumbing House and Small Buildings to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for holding the position as a Registered Designer for the Province of Ontario and the role of Chief Building Official. Ms. Waldron immediately following graduation she began work with a drafting firm in Peterborough, Ontario and then opened her own drafting business in 1998. While operating a thriving drafting business an opportunity arose for the position of the Chief Building Official for the Township of Asphodel-Norwood. Once obtaining this position with the Township beginning an additional career path, Ms. Waldron continues to this day to operate her drafting business. Ms. Waldron is qualified to do all types of design but specializes and enjoys residential design the most. Ms. Waldron's is a gifted draftsman who has developed amazing design talents over the course of her twenty four year career as a draftsman. To date Ms. Waldron has completed over three thousand design jobs most of which are brand new homes and residential additions. Ms. Waldron's interest in drafting came from the opportunity to take technical classes in high school which included drafting, electrical, machine shop and automotive. In grade ten a choice had to be made in which direction one chose to continue his or her path in technology. Ms. Waldron fell in love with drafting and had an obvious talent for design during this period and she chose to continue this path through to the College level.

Ms. Waldron's second career path which runs simultaneously alongside her drafting career is the role of Chief Building Official. At present she has been the Chief Building Official for the Township of Otonabee South-Monaghan for three years, which is along the north-shore of Rice Lake in Ontario, Canada. Prior to accepting this position, she held the position of Chief Building Official for the Township of Asphodel-Norwood located in Norwood, Ontario, Canada for seven years. As a Chief Building Official for a rural municipality one must take on many roles to meet the needs of the municipal structure. Ms. Waldron holds the positions of Chief Building Official, Building Inspector, Municipal and Public Property Manager, By-law Enforcement Officer, Property Standards Officer and Health and Safety Officer.

Ms. Waldron's duties as the Chief Building Official include issuing permits, reviewing permit applications and designs, conducting inspections, issuing orders when required, preparing reports for Council and the Chief Administrative Officer, attending Council meetings, preparing the building and property department budgets, calculating building permit fees based on the costs of the operation of the building department, attending planning meetings when required, completing site plan control measures and most importantly keeping extremely good records of all inspections completed. The position of

Chief Building Official requires you to have an excellent network of people from all applicable agencies which have bearing or comment on any project at hand.

Ms. Waldron's duties for all other positions held include being the main contact for Department Managers and staff dealing with repairs, projects and associated budget in conjunction with municipal properties. Daily duties include inspection and review of works to be carried out on all municipal properties, prepare tenders and quotation documents for the public for works to be carried out on the public buildings, prepare drawings for said work and attend to any issues arising with the buildings for maintenance. The position of property standards officer requires inspections of properties where complaints are received and issuing orders under the Building Code Act if required. Health and safety requires monthly inspections of the Municipal office with all paperwork completed complying with the Ministry of Labour.

In addition to the Diploma Ms. Waldron has earned as an Architectural Drafting Technician from Loyalist College; she holds the certification of CBCO and is a registered designer with the Province of Ontario. She is a member of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) of Ontario and has held the position of secretary for her local chapter for eight years. She is also a member of the Plumbing Officials Association of Ontario.
