Barbara Van Amburg Joins Shift Alerts as a Clinical Advisor

Will be helping spearhead product development and distribution.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, December 18, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Van Amburg has joined Shift Alerts as a Clinical Advisor. For the past 8 years Van Amburg has held the Chief Nursing Officer position at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, California. She was recently appointed Director of Special Projects for the new Kaiser Permanente hospital which opened doors earlier this December. Before Kaiser, Van Amburg also held the Chief Nursing Officer position with El Camino Hospital Los Gatos. With over 25 years of experience in acute care, Barbara, a seasoned forward thinking nursing executive, will be lending her knowledge and expertise help drive adoption of the Shift Alerts platform in hospitals and long-term care settings across the US.

At Kaiser Permanente, Redwood City, Van Amburg leads efforts in outpatient, inpatient, and ancillary services, as well as provides direction and planning in patient care services, systems improvements, and finance.

"Shift Alerts provides value to both caregivers and healthcare facility administrators, translating to higher productivity and savings for the institution. As the pace of healthcare quickens, survival skills in today's healthcare environment will need to rely on mobile technology. Shift Alert is recognizing this opportunity by offering clinical shift tools that translate clinical data into actionable interventions. As a Nurse Executive, this helps me achieve my overall goal, which is to keep caregivers where they can have the biggest impact: at the bedside. Shift Alert not only improves nursing workflow, it gives that time back to the nurse and patient." says Van Amburg.

Shift Alerts launched in April 2014 and was a selected as city finalist in the recent 1776 Challenge Cup competition in Toronto, in the health category. In addition to nurses, Shift Alerts also supports workflow for personal support workers and various types of occupational therapists.

"I've never met someone like Barbara before. She's enterprising, extremely intelligent, creative, and is truly excited about our platform and what we have set out to do as a company. We've undertaken a huge endeavour upon ourselves, which comes with a lot of challenges and obstacles, so to have someone of Barbara's caliber in the trenches with us is a game changer and speaks volumes with regards to the importance of disrupting the current point of care information model." says Lidia Sienkowska, the company's founder and CEO.

Van Amburg's experience also extends to working with the government on the federal level, implementing a theoretical foundation for nursing (Jean Watson Caring Science) to support the Nursing Professional Practice Model, and streamlining organizational operations to meet specific targets and goals.

"With the increasing costs of care and mounting pressure on caregivers to meet regulations and governing law, the timing could not be any more right for Shift Alerts. I'm thrilled to be a part of such a passionate and dynamic team, and I look forward to building this company together." added Van Amburg.
