The scholarship, which covers up to $100,000 in college tuition costs, will be formally presented to Meghan this week.

Barbizon International, the industry leader in modeling and acting training, began the Barbizon College Scholarship program in 1992. To date, Barbizon has awarded $1 Million in college scholarships.

"We are so pleased to announce Meghan as this year's scholarship recipient," Charles Nemes, Barbizon Midwest President, said. "She is intelligent, hard working and has a very promising future. She really is a great representative for her school, Barbizon and her community."

Meghan is currently a senior at Allen Park High School in Allen Park, MI. Maintaining a 3.5 grade point average, she will graduate in June 2011.

Meghan was a member of the 2010 Michigan state championship team for competitive cheerleading, a 2009 and 2010 state qualifier for long jump in track and field, and was recently selected by her Athletic Director as the 2011 Free Press Scholar Athlete.

"I was so surprised to learn I had won the scholarship," Meghan said. "At first I couldn't believe it was true, then after my family and I spoke to Barbizon, I felt so lucky that my name was chosen out of all of the entries."

Meghan will utilize the $100,000 college tuition scholarship in the fall, when she begins college at Michigan State University.

"Being awarded the Barbizon College Scholarship means that I can get a great college education at the school of my dreams and not have to worry about student loans when I graduate," she said.

Beyond school, Meghan is passionate about issues of self-esteem improvement for young girls and suicide prevention among her fellow teens. With a clear passion for others, she says she will be studying Nursing in college.

Meghan will be formally presented with the Barbizon College Scholarship during an awards presentation at her high school, Allen Park High School, on Friday, May 6th at 8:30 a.m. Local Media is invited to attend the presentation.
