SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 29, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP Partner Joshua A. Bloom has been elected vice-chair of the Bar Association of San Francisco's (BASF) Environmental Law Section for 2012. Previously, Bloom served as section treasurer.

"As a firm, we pride ourselves on being active in the greater Bay Area community, both personally and professionally. Josh's commitment to this professional organization, to his peers in the environmental section and to keeping abreast of the latest developments in the area all help to make him an outstanding lawyer and a valuable business partner for his clients," said R. Morgan Gilhuly, managing partner of Barg Coffin.

The mission of the BASF's Environmental Law Section is to serve and educate both attorneys and the general public about environmental law. Throughout the year, the section presents substantive educational programs, both in person and via webcast, that are eligible for MCLE credit. Bloom, in addition to his leadership roles in the section, is also a frequent presenter. He most recently spoke at the BASF's Jan. 26 program "Ethics and Environmental Law 2012."

Bloom's environmental and natural resources practice involves counseling, litigation and transactional work. Matters have included negotiating some of the largest military base transfers in the United States, including the Presidio in San Francisco and the Oakland Army Base in Oakland, Calif. He received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (1990) and his M.A. and B.A. from the State University of New York, Albany (1982, 1981).

Deeply involved in the legal community, Bloom has presented at events such as the California Water Quality & Supply Conference and the Prop. 65 Clearinghouse Annual Conference. He is also the author, most recently, of several articles regarding the future of California's Green Chemistry Initiative.

Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP is a San Francisco-based law firm providing nationally recognized expertise in environmental law and litigation. The firm is based on a simple but sound concept: a small and efficient law firm can provide the environmental law and litigation services that clients need at a lower cost than a large, multi-disciplinary law firm.
