Beris L. Gwynne Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in International Development Efforts

Passionate and determined, Beris Gwynne works toward ending poverty for thousands of children and their families



    GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, August 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Beris L. Gwynne, the Director of WV Geneva and Leader for Global Accountability for World Vision International, a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in advocating for global change for children worldwide.

World Vision International is focused on improving the lives of children affected by poverty, advocating for greater justice, globally, while also providing basic needs in times of disaster. Ms. Gwynne eagerly supports this effort and brings 35 years of professional experience to the cause. She specializes in strengthening the accountability and effectiveness of international development efforts and expertly manages the relations between her World Vision office, the United Nations and other organizations based in Geneva.

As director, Ms. Gwynne also supports the work of her WV colleagues and ensures that all parties involved in relief efforts, development and advocacy are working to their highest potential to create positive change. Her role as partnership leader for global accountability puts Ms. Gwynne in touch with many people across the organization that focus on functional and thematic accountability issues. She encourages inter-agency cooperation and helps to shape international standards.

Ms. Gwynne started her career working as a diplomat in the Australian Foreign Service, joining Australia's International Development Agency (AusAID) before eventually leaving government service to work in the nonprofit sector. She attributes her success to her a deep sense of commitment to justice for people (and especially children), courage in challenging the status quo, intellectual curiosity and can-do attitude. Ms. Gwynne holds a master's degree in international relations from Deakin University. She is a member of the Board of the International NGO Charter of Accountability Company. Ms. Gwynne is keenly interested in opportunities to work with like-minded individuals on sustainable development, development cooperation and humanitarian response.
