Bernida Lamerle Thompson Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for Practiced Industry Experience

    WASHINGTON, DC, January 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bernida Lamerle Thompson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Recognized for many years of invaluable contributions to her field, Dr. Thompson parlays her knowledge into her roles with Roots Activity Learning Center, where she has served as founding teacher and principal from 1977-1999, and Roots Public Charter School, where she has served in this capacity since 1999. A proud and powerful Pan-Africanist educator, she has also worked as a classroom elementary school teacher for Dayton Public Schools, assistant principal at St. James Catholic School, teacher at St. Augustine Catholic School, and science resource teacher at D.C. Public Schools; she is especially proud to have established an amazing educational legacy. Since she was a child, she knew she wanted to own her own school, and she is thrilled to have her dreams come true.

A member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Alliance of Black School Educators, the National Black Child Development Institute, which honored her with a Guardian Award in 2015, the Council of Independent Black Institutions, the D.C. Pan African Council of Elders, and a registered agent of the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Thompson attributes her success in the field to her loving family. Her father encouraged her from a young age to be a teacher and own her own school. Her professional resume and educational background include a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Central State University, a Master of Education in administration and curriculum from Miami University, and an Ed.D. in early and middle childhood education from Nova University. Dr. Thompson's greatest accomplishment has been being able to train the next generation of leaders. Throughout her career, she has also contributed her knowledge to articles in professional journals, and wrote the books, Black Madonnas and Young Lions a Rite of Passage for African American Adolescents and African Centered Interdisciplinary Multi-Level Hands-On Science. In recognition of her success, she has been included in six volumes of Who's Who in American Education, five volumes of Who's Who of American Women and 13 volumes of Who's Who in America. Looking forward, Dr. Thompson intends to continue contributing to her educational legacy.
