Bert Edwards Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Accounting

Bert Edwards was the U.S State Department's Assistant Secretary/CFO under the Clinton Administration for three years from 1998-2001



    OCEAN VIEW, DE, January 24, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bert Edwards has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Edwards has achieved a long and accomplished career as an accountant. Highlights of his chosen profession have included serving as assistant secretary/chief financial officer for the State Department for three years under the Clinton Administration. Mr. Edwards spent a majority of his career with Arthur Andersen LLP in Washington, D.C. He joined the accounting firm in 1961 after obtaining an MBA from Stanford University. In his time with Arthur Andersen, he advanced to manager and partner before retiring in 1994.

After his formal retirement, Mr. Edwards continued utilizing his expertise. He then served as an executive director of the Office of Historical Trust Accounting for the U.S. Department of the Interior charged with successfully resolving individual Indian trust litigation, accomplished in 2009. From 2004 to 2010, he was chairman of the audit committee for the U.S. Air Force. During 1998-2002, he was Chair of the Organization of American States audit committee.

A 1959 graduate of Wesleyan University, Mr. Edwards is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Public Financial Manager and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Over the years, he has remained active in his professional community through membership, leadership and committee positions with various organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Government Finance Officers Association-Washington Metropolitan Area (GFOA-WMA), the Association of Government Accountants, the American Accounting Association, the Institute of Management Accountants, and more. Mr. Edwards also held numerous civic positions in the Washington, D.C. area.

Well-lauded for his efforts, Mr. Edwards received the Einhorn-Gary Award from the Washington chapter of the Association of Government Accountants in 2012. Other honors include a Public Service Award from the Greater Washington Society of CPAs in 2015, and Leadership Awards from the U.S. Department of the Interior in 2007 and 2008. Mr. Edwards has been featured in the 44th through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, as well as multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in the East.
