VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, February 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Vancouver BC - Motivational Speaker and Best-selling Author Joe Roberts uplifted the business leaders and members of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce yesterday with his inspirational "Skid Row CEO" presentation. The event took place in the form of a luncheon at the Salvation Army Cascade Community Church on 35190 Delair Road in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. Roberts' presentation "Skid Row CEO" highlighted his unique "rags to riches" personal life story, and encouraged the crowd to overcome adversity and use it as a tool for success.

Roberts highlighted many key moments in his life from his extensive childhood drug addiction to his successful comeback as President and CEO of Mindware Design Communications. Although his drug addiction started at age nine, Roberts overcame his adversity and obtained two business degrees from Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario.

"I transferred a lot of the skills I learned from hustling on the street and applied them to business," Roberts says. "I'm very persistent and determined. I know how to take it on the chin to get things done."

His message proved to the audience that anyone anywhere can overcome perceived limitations and achieve their dream. "I just want them to think, 'If he can do it, I can do it,'" Roberts says.

Roberts has also founded the Shoeboogieman Foundation, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing teen addiction through education, motivation and inspiration. Through this foundation, Roberts speaks to youth all over Canada through schools and youth events.

After having received the BC Courage to Come Back Award in 2003, Roberts self-published a self-help guide entitled "Seven Secrets to Profit from Adversity" which quickly made him a best-selling author. His other inspirational books include "Fred the Cat - the Eyes and Soul of an Addict," as well as "Don't Buy the Lie about Getting High."
