Betty Laird Perry Receives Professional Networking Community's Highest Honor

    ROCKWALL, TX, September 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Betty Laird Perry, General Partner and Owner of B.C. Golf Ltd., dba Buffalo Creek Golf Club, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Recreation Management & Fine Art. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.

Over last 18 years, Betty Laird Perry has proven herself to be a loyal patron of the arts and a dedicated professional in the field of recreational entertainment. She is a recognized expert in the arts, having committed herself to the sponsorship of fine arts students at Florida International University (FIU). In fact, the former wife of the university's founding President, the late Charles Perry, strives to develop and expand the collection of student work at FIU. She established the Betty Laird Perry Student Art Collection in support of the school's bachelor and master programs in fine studio art. The collection holds numerous works obtained since 1980.

Additionally, Ms. Perry founded the Student Art Awards in efforts to catalogue a historical retrospective of the development of student art as a juried collection representing the best at the university throughout the years—many recipients of this award have gone on to become renowned figures of the contemporary arts scene, earning prestigious awards and fellowships including those from the NEA, MacArthur and the Guggenheim. In a recent interview with Cambridge Publishing, Ms. Perry noted that her long-term goal is to see the complete collection exhibited at the Frost Art Museum. In efforts to realize this goal, she has made generous donations to the new Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum Building Fund and has a gallery named in her honor dedicated to student, faculty and alumni exhibitions.

For her generous and steadfast contributions to the art community, Ms. Perry has received numerous awards and honors for community service. She credits her success in such endeavors to her passion for the art.

In addition to her work in the arts, Ms. Perry is the owner of the successful golf course, Buffalo Creek Golf Club. As the owner, she manages all operations of the golf course. A passionate golf enthusiast, she works hard to ensure the provision of excellent golf services and amenities.

Ms. Perry holds a Master's Degree in Health Care Policy and Planning from Georgia State University (1985), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University (1974). She is a proud member of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, the Junior League of Dallas, the Southwestern Watercolor Society and the National Golf Course Owners Association, to name a few.
