Byrd-Lloyd, Curriculum Specialist for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, will be included as an honored member in the 2008-2009 edition of the Cambridge Who's Who, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry for excellence in curriculum development.

Already on her 12th year as curriculum specialist, Ms. Byrd-Lloyd became involved in education because of her desire to learn new things and her enjoyment of sharing her discoveries with others. She specializes in developing curriculum and teaching advanced placement English, and is responsible for researching on the latest curriculum trends, writing grants for interdisciplinary projects in new English language art models, collecting educational information and working with various professional development agencies. A self-described educator, storyteller and activist, she employs classroom activities that interest, excite and engage her pupils, and has received a grant to take her students on a trip to Charleston. She looks forward to bringing her students to South Africa and opening their eyes to the AIDS epidemic. Upon her retirement, she intends to venture into consulting and writing.

Ms. Byrd-Lloyd holds a Master's Degree in Reading and Education and has been accepted into the Doctoral Program in Curriculum and Instruction at Kent State University. Her professional affiliations include the African American Museum, the National Council of Teachers of English and MAAT Storytellers. She has been married to her husband Oba for the last 21 years. They have five children.
