BEIRUT, LEBANON, May 24, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Non-profit organization Bicharaf has conducted workshops for teachers and sessions for students at Dar Jana International School in Saudi Arabia from May 5 through 7.Bicharaf worked with both students and faculty to promote academic integrity and encourage an ethical environment.

Representatives from Dar Jana International School were introduced to Bicharaf during the last Science and Math Educators Conference (SMEC), in which they expressed their admiration for the Bicharaf initiative and invited the team to Jeddah to hold workshops.

Bicharaf conducted a session for students covering an introduction to Bicharaf and the formation of an "Honor Council." Teachers also attended similar workshops introducing them to Bicharaf and its activities. Additionally, various topics ranging from ethical behavior to techniques for dealing with violations and misconduct were addressed.

Mr. Rami Abi Sleiman, Deputy Director of Bicharaf, lead the workshops and sessions. Mr. Abi Sleiman said the experience was rewarding and that students participated actively with Bicharaf. This proved, he continued, that "despite different cultures and circumstances, all students have the same needs and require special attention necessary to direct them to the right track."

Bicharaf, which translates to 'with honor' in Arabic, is a national initiative for academic integrity and business ethics designed to raise ethical awareness among students, faculty, administrators, and business professionals.

Bicharaf was established in 2004 by Dr. Tony Feghali at the American University of Beirut in an effort to create academic integrity awareness and improved business ethics. Bicharaf functions through partnerships with businesses and schools, with more than 88 partnerships with schools and more than seven partnerships with businesses so far.
