Birmingham Plastic Surgeon Now Offers Gummy Bear Breast Implants

Dr. Michael S. Beckenstein now offers Natrelle 410 highly cohesive silicone breast implants at his Birmingham plastic surgery practice. Referred to as "gummy bear breast implants," the anatomically shaped implants create a natural look.

BIRMINGHAM, AL, May 08, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Michael S. Beckenstein, a board-certified plastic surgeon, is now offering the recently FDA-approved Natrelle 410 highly cohesive silicone breast implants. An Allergan certified 410 surgeon and breast specialist known for his work in breast reconstruction and breast augmentation in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Beckenstein is excited about what the new implants mean for his patients.

"This new generation of implants is really remarkable," says Dr. Beckenstein, who trained under Dr. Carl Hartrampf, Jr., and Dr. Scott L. Spear, both authorities in breast surgery. "It combines some of the better features of previous iterations of implants, representing years of research and trials."

The Natrelle 410 implants, popularly referred to as "gummy bear implants," represent the latest, most advanced silicone breast implants. They are filled with a strong, highly cohesive silicone gel that mimics the qualities of the popular candy bears. This durable gel, which maintains its shape and uniformity when punctured or even cut in half, reduces the chances of gel bleed and leakage. Despite the cohesive nature of the 410's silicone gel, the implants feel soft like breast tissue.

Natrelle's 410 implants also have a natural-looking teardrop shape. This anatomic design resembles the natural shape of the breast, which has a gradual downward slope. It allows Dr. Beckenstein to produce a very natural result, he says.

"For the right candidate," says Dr. Beckenstein, "these implants allow breast augmentation that preserves the natural shape of the breast, with greater volume in the lower pole and the natural slope of the upper pole. Patients enjoy fuller breasts that still look like the breasts that nature gave them."

After more than a decade of clinical trials and analysis, the FDA reapproved silicone gel-filled implants in November 2006. Following further research and trials, the FDA approved the Natrelle 410 implants in February 2013. They are indicated for cosmetic breast augmentation in women age 22 and older and for breast reconstruction for women of any age. Dr. Beckenstein offers the Natrelle implants, as well as a wide range of other breast implants in Birmingham.
