NEW YORK, NY, November 28, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Birnam Wood Galleries will be exhibiting at the 24th edition of Art Miami, the longest-running fair during Miami art week. Included in our booth will be a selection of works by important Post-war artists including an oil on newsprint by Willem de Kooning, a large-scale acrylic on paper by Sam Francis from 1973, and a lyrical 1943 drawing by Arshile Gorky. We will also be showing works from the period by Larry Rivers, Norman Bluhm, David Smith and Melville Price.
Our contemporary program will be represented by the debut of two new fabric sculptures by Margaret Garrett. Ms. Garrett will kick off our winter exhibition season with a solo show of her Tuning Fields series in January. We'll also have new works by our artists Susan Grossman, Alexis Portilla and Natalia Wrobel in Miami.
And a highlight of our exhibit will be four works by David Datuna. Datuna will have a prominent place in Miami this year with a fascinating installation in coordination with Google Glass, the internet-wired headgear.
Located in Manhattan's Chelsea art district and in the town of East Hampton, New York, with its long and storied ties to the history of American art, Birnam Wood Galleries maintains a diverse program showing notable work of American Modernist painters from the mid-20th Century through the Postwar era. The gallery also represents a select group of accomplished mid-career and emerging contemporary artists.
