CHELMSFORD, MA, November 04, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Biscom today announced the release of its Biscom MFP Fax Connector that integrates scan-to-fax capabilities with Sharp MFPs that include the Sharp Open System Architecture (OSA) development platform. The Sharp OSA development platform is available on all Sharp MX series MFPs.
According to SharpUSA, Sharp Open System Architecture (OSA) technology transforms a Sharp MX Series MFP into a "customized portal" that, combined with Sharp OSA applications, helps enable businesses to "extract and access key document information, manage usage costs and improve workflow" within the enterprise.
A Sharp OSA Marketing program-validated application, the Biscom MFP Fax Connector is a Web service that runs seamlessly to directly help organizations with Sharp MX Series MFPs integrate IT assets and hardware for greater control of the bottom line.
The Biscom MFP Fax Connector does all of the following to optimize the value of the Sharp device:
• Connects multiple MFPs to one centralized network fax server, eliminating the need to equip each device with a fax module and phone lines in order to support faxing.
• Enables users to scan-to-fax either anonymously or only after entering login credentials.
• Returns fax confirmation statuses to either the sender's fax client mailbox, email inbox, or the device itself.
• Supports selecting recipients from both a user's Private fax Phonebook and a system-wide Public fax Phonebook.
• Supports the FTP protocol on all Sharp MX series MFPs, as well as the SMB and HTTP protocols on the specific Sharp models that support all three transfer protocols.
• Enables automatically printing received faxes on the MFP.
Depending on the specific MX series MFP, the scanned image files are transferred from the device to the specified IIS Server using the FTP, HTTP, or Server Message Block (SMB) transport. In the event that HTTP/SMB is configured as the transport for a device, but is not supported on the device, FTP is used.
"Biscom developed its MFP Fax Connector and joined the Sharp OSA Marketing Program to be validated for use with Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs in response to customer demand," said Dick Orlando, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "Our customers want to maximize the capabilities of their Sharp devices, and connecting to a network fax server saves them time and money."
