GARNER, NC, October 15, 2011
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Fine dining, dancing and a good cause — this is the final week to purchase tickets for the third annual Black, White & Bling Gala, set for Friday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m., at the Grand Marquise Ballroom in the Fidelity Business Park in Garner.
The black-tie-optional gala will also feature raffles and live and silent auctions for prizes including a Cancun resort trip; a basketball signed by Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski; a Frigidaire front-load washer and dryer set; a 46-inch television; an oil painting by renowned artist Anne Gould; historic coin collections; jewelry and more.
The gala supports the Backpack Buddies program in Garner elementary schools; the Garner Mid-Day Rotary Club is the only area organization financially supporting this cause.
Since 2009, the Black, White & Bling Gala has raised more than $33,000, enabling the Club to increase the number of schools served by Backpack Buddies from one to four.
The program currently provides nearly 50 homeless schoolchildren in Garner with a weekly backpack of food, ensuring weekend sustenance when in-school meals are not available. The average cost per backpack per child per month exceeds $30.
The gala also supports the Club's scholarship programs; the Club has also awarded more than $5,000 this year in scholarships to local students via Rotary essay and speech competitions.
The Garner Mid-Day Rotary Club Foundation is a 501(c)(3) entity. Title sponsors of the gala include the Grand Marquise Ballroom and Swift's Fine Jewelry of Knightdale.
Black, White & Bling Gala tickets are $75 each, and include dinner and the chance to win grand prizes of a 1.05-carat pear-shaped diamond pendant mounted in 14-carat white gold, and $2,500 cash.
