Blaine Hill Hall Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    OREM, UT, September 21, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Blaine Hill Hall with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Hall celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Widely renowned in the areas of education and library science, Mr. Hall served Brigham Young University for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 1996. He previously held a variety of roles pertaining to his areas of expertise which includes time as editor of "Utah Libraries" from 1972 to 1977 and the "MPLA Newsletter" (1978 to 1983), and as a book reviewer for the "American Reference Books Annual" from 1985 to 2000. Although he is now retired, Mr. Hall continues his interest in the Utah Library Association, the Mountain Plains Library Association, and the American Library Association.

Prior to pursuing a career in library science, Mr. Hall completed military service during the Korean War between 1953 and 1955 and served as a missionary to Canada for two years for his church from 1955 to 1957. He enrolled at Brigham Young University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in English in 1960 and Master of Arts in American Literature in 1965. He accepted a position as an Instructor of English at Brigham Young University in 1963. While Mr. Hall taught English classes, he attended night and summer classes at the recently opened library school at Brigham Young University, acquiring a Master of Library Science through the university in 1971. In 1972 he became the humanities librarian at the university, a position he occupied for 24 years.

A renowned author in his fields of expertise Mr. Hall is credited with writing the "Collection Assessment Manual for College and University Libraries," the "Saul Bellow Bibliography," the "Jerzy Kosinski Bibliography," "Jewish American Fiction Writers Bibliography" and "Conversations with Grace Paley," among others. He also published an annual update to the "Saul Bellow Bibliography" in the "Saul Bellow Journal" from 1988 to 2004. In addition, he has contributed articles to several professional library journals. As a result of his interest in his own family's history, Mr. Hall has written a 508-page self-published autobiography for family members and over 20 histories of his family members and ancestors.

Mr. Hall has been featured in several biographical and honor publications, including Who's Who in the America, and Who's Who in the West, published between 1989 and 2016, Who's Who in Library and Information Services, 1982 and Personalities of America, 1986. He has also received several awards for his outstanding professional service and work. He received the distinguished service award from both the Utah Library Association and the Mountain Plains Library Association, the Posner Judaica Bibliography Award from the Association of Jewish Librarians for the outstanding bibliography of 1991 for "Jewish American Fiction Writers Bibliography" and the BYU Harold B. Lee Library Faculty Professionalism Award in 1991.
