/24-7PressRelease/ -- In "The Mojo Myles Band" (a name he was affectionate given in early articles written about him), the Blues Guitar prodigy mainly plays guitar and signs in that project a different role from the National Championship Winning High School Jazz Band; "The Jazz Machine". Recently the band took First Place for the second year in a row at the Berklee School of Music's National High School Jazz Band Competition. There Myles was presented an award for his performance by a panel of judges made up of faculty and performing alumni from the prestigious music college.
The excited young "Mojo" Myles Mancuso says; "I'm honored to be on the bill with such a great line-up of bands... Levon Helm, Warren Haynes & Derek Trucks have had a strong influence on my style of playing for years"...Two recent Grammy winners (Levon Helm & Derek Trucks) will appear with their respective bands this year; along with two shows from Grammy nominated "Gov't Mule" (Warren Haynes' band). Derek Trucks was himself a Blues Guitar Prodigy as a young boy. In total the festival will present 40 plus bands on 4 stages over a 3 day period (June 4th-6th), the location is set at the base of beautiful Hunter Mountain Ski Slopes in upstate New York (about 2 hours north of Manhattan). The Warren Haynes Band (Gov't Mule) will headline 2 nights, closing the festival with their high energy rock/blues show on Friday and Saturday nights.
As a Nationally Recognized Blues Guitar Prodigy - Myles' last major festival performance was at the 19th Annual Sarasota Blues Festival in Florida, October 24th 2009. The Mojo Myles Band played along with headliners Little Feat & The Duke Robilard Band. The promoters of this popular blues festival pride themselves on presenting a young guitar prodigy every year. The day after headlines in Sarasota's Herald Tribune read "Child Prodigy Tears it up at Blues Fest". Promoter of the festival (Barbara Strauss) said in the article "I didn't choose Myles to be on bill because he was cute, we chose him because he's brilliant". Other notable young guitarists appearing at the festival early in their career's were Derek Trucks, Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Healey among others.
As an Award Winning Jazz Pianist - At the Berklee School of Music National High School Jazz Band Competition on March 13th 2010. Myles was awarded the "Judges Choice Award" for his performance with the 2010 Championship Winning High School Jazz Band. For the second straight year Arlington High School took first place in the competition, retaining the school's 1st place standing from 2009. The competition hosts over 200 bands from around the country. The Arlington H.S. "Jazz Machine" placed 1st in the "Large Ensemble Division".
Beginnings in Woodstock & Manhattan - At 8 years old Myles joined legendary rock drummer Levon Helm on stage during a performance at the Town of Woodstock's "Village Green". Myles' band started to play around the Woodstock NY area shortly after; The Colony Cafe, Concert on the Green Series and other venues. At 11 years old he performed live on WDST Radio in Woodstock a number of times; he continued to play on more New York City stages as well. Myles is billed as "New York City's Youngest Working Bandleader & Guitarist", fronting his own band on top stages in the New York City area since he was 10 years old; BB Kings in Times Square, The Cutting Room, Iridium Jazz Club, as well as a high profile entertainment industry Gala at the famous Tribeca Roof Top. Another highlight was his appearance at Madison Square Garden to almost 30,000 people for the half-time performance at a Season Opening Knicks Game. Myles has also appeared on stage as a special guest with the late electric guitar icon, Les Paul at the Iridium Jazz Club in Times Square NYC.
Myles has numerous steady monthly performances in the New York area. Myles' upcoming performances will provide audiences with a unique live entertainment option. His shows are upbeat with his band performing familiar cover songs as well as the original tunes Myles continues to write.
