In a career that has spanned more than four decades, Dr. Djordjevic has demonstrated skills as a researcher, materials scientist, nondestructive testing technology engineer, project manager and program director while working at Martin Marietta Co. (Laboratories), Lockheed Martin Co., at The Johns Hopkins University (Center for Nondestructive Evaluation) and recently, at Materials and Sensors Technologies, Inc. (MAST). He pioneered development of laser ultrasonic, high-power non-destructive ultrasonic testing of composites and has made a significant impact on the functional testing of thick multilayer structures, through body ultrasonic test methods for solid rocket motors and as early as 1981, the first fully automated robotic ultrasonic test systems. Other noteworthy projects that have advanced under Dr. Djordjevic's leadership include research in prognostic NDE and materials characterizations. Additionally, he is credited with patented nondestructive evaluation technology tools for aerospace vehicles, which include the monitoring of advanced composite structures, evaluation of civil structures as well as non-imaging medical ultrasonic and laser-optic sonar.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Djordjevic has served in a number of leadership roles and on senior advisory panels in industry and government. Upon joining The Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Djordjevic worked in associate director and director roles for internationally acclaimed Center for NDE before transitioning his work into his current position in research and development as founder and CEO of the Materials and Sensors Technologies, Inc. As principal research scientist or research manager, drawing from his past experiences, his accomplishments include the publishing of eight research and development books, seven patents and hundreds of publications. Dr. Djordjevic attributes his success to his passion for emerging developments in science and technology.

Prior to establishing his career, Dr. Djordjevic earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Thereafter, he went on to achieve a Master of Science in mechanical engineering and Materials Sciences and a Ph.D. in the same subject area from Johns Hopkins University, MD. During his doctoral studies, Dr. Djordjevic worked as a graduate research assistant and a technical consultant for the National Bureau of Standards. After graduating, Dr. Djordjevic completed a postdoctoral fellowship that propelled his career in both industry and academia. Today, he remains at the top of his field through his affiliation with work in emerging technologies and professional organizations such as the American Society for Nondestructive Testing, now a fellow and member of the Board of Directors, he previously served as the committee chairman, chairman of the Research Council and chair of several Research Symposia meetings. Dr. Djordjevic is also involved with and a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials, ASM, IEEE, the American Physical Society, American Chemical Society, The Acoustical Society of America and the European Academy of Sciences.

Looking to the future, Dr. Djordjevic intends to continue his work with emerging ideas in research and science of nondestructive evaluation as the CEO of MAST, Inc.
