SEATTLE, WA, February 07, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- PengWine is proud to be part of the Puget Sound Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) when they debut "A New Breed of Art: Creations by Woodland Park Zoo's Animals" at Art/Not Terminal Gallery on Saturday, February 7, 2009. The fundraiser marks the first-ever non-human art show in Seattle.
The art show will consist of approximately 20 pieces of artwork painted by the zoo's talented elephants and orangutans and several authentic animal footprints.
A wine and cheese reception will be held on opening night with wine presented by PengWine. Zookeepers will attend opening night to discuss the painting techniques of the animals and how painting is a part of the zoo's enrichment program to help keep the animals physically and mentally stimulated, and help encourage the animals' creative side.
PengWine will pour four top reserve wines from the current vintages. All from Chile, PengWine's wines are each named after different penguins who make their home along South America's shores.
- Magellan, a bright, crisp Chardonnay will delight guests with tropical notes in each delicate, refreshing sip.
- Fairy, a small penguin with lots of flair is exemplified in our rose of the same name with a bit of fruit and smooth, dry finish.
- Humboldt penguins enjoy nesting along the central Chilean coast and this red blend enjoys the climate that these birds thrive in. It's a first class vintage that brings elegance to the art show.
- Gentoo, a Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon blend is a flavorful red that shows off the fruits Chile grows so well and brings out a smooth boldness just like their feisty namesake.
All proceeds will help benefit the 2009 combined conferences of AAZK and the International Congress of Zoo Keepers. Art/Not Terminal Gallery has generously waived all commission fees for the show.
