CastingAbout is an online service that is the actor's secret source for insider information on casting directors and their projects. Information is updated daily, including each project's complete casting staff and current mailing address. This easy-to-use website provides actors the best way to prepare mailings, research new shows, track casting director assignments, create target lists, or even just brush up on names before an audition.
CastingAbout is the brainchild of Blair Hickey. As an actor in Los Angeles he was constantly frustrated with out-of-date contact information from costly guidebooks and mailing labels. Hickey soon began to collect information about who was casting what and when on his own. The success he soon achieved from his personal database had friends and colleagues asking him to share his information. Hickey formed a partnership with Web Specialist and marketing expert Brian Wold to bring his information to the Internet. From those small beginnings CastingAbout was formed. In September of 2007 Breakdown Services, Ltd. purchased the company to add to its cache of actor services.
The SAG Foundation was founded in 1985 as an educational, humanitarian and philanthropic 501 (3) non-profit organization governed and funded independently of Screen Actors Guild. The LifeRaft Live Stream series was launched January 12th of this year, offering actors a chance to learn from seasoned industry professionals.
