LONDON, ENGLAND, August 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Those of us desiring an appearance altering procedure, from breast enlargements and tummy tucks to hair implants or teeth whitening, can now request a contribution to the expense as a birthday gift from friends and family.
"Many people would like an appearance altering procedure, yet few can justify the expense," says Lord Terrence Bartlett, owner of the Belvedere Clinic chain. "Our 'Buy Me A Change' service lets people chose exactly the procedure they wish for. We then break the total gift into a variety of monetary amounts so friends and family can chose how much or little they wish to give. Similar to a wedding list except the products on offer will mean ten times more than matching towels or a slow cooker."
Lord Terrence Bartlett appreciates that gift vouchers for cosmetic surgery became popular at the start of the millennium but understands that receiving a gift voucher for a face lift you had not requested, might not be welcome. "The 'Buy Me A Change' service is only mentioned to others by the person who desires the change. The person benefiting from the procedure is often, in our experience, hitting a milestone birthday so what better gift to get for them - something that they really want," says Bartlett.
"I do not want to receive tacky gifts with the number 40 all over them," says Simone Robinson, a marketing manager from Essex who is turning 40 later this year. "I have wanted to have my teeth whitened for ages but could not afford the approximately GBP400 charge. Now I can ask my friends and family to contribute to the procedure. A special birthday present I can enjoy for years to come."
Terrence Bartlett pioneered the marketing of hair transplantation in early 1970's and his Belvedere Clinics were amongst the first to offer tattoo removal and port wine stain removal services. Terrence Bartlett is believed to be the first person to have coined the word 'liposuction' - a word now recognised by many and a procedure for which the Belvedere Clinics are highly rated.
The Belvedere Clinics are located in London, Essex and Kent.

Lord Terrence Bartlett has owned and run private hospitals for most of his career. Terrence pioneered the marketing of hair transplantation in the early 1970's whilst in his teens. In 1979, in conjunction with an eminent orthopeadic surgeon, he imported two carbon dioxide laser machines into the UK from Israel which were used for tattoo removal. This was considered groundbreaking at that time. Many medical papers were written about the technique and the method was then marketed to the general public. At that time, the only way to remove a tattoo was by surgical excision and this left horrendous scars. The skin grafting techniques of that time were considered unacceptable for many people. This revolutionary new technique enabled thousands of people all over the UK to remove their unsightly tattoos. Although it did leave a scar, the scar was many times more acceptable than conventional skin grafting. Lord Terrence Bartlett then migrated to argon lasers, and yet again, in conjuction with another consultant surgeon, marketed the treatment for the removal of port wine stains (nevaus) from the face and other parts of the body, of adults and children. A port wine stain can be very embarrassing for people and until the argon laser treatment came along, there was no satisfactory way of removing such blemishes.
