Bridget Woodbury Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Arts Management

Smoke, haze, and strobe effects: Ms. Woodbury makes sure the show goes on

SILVER SPRING, MD, April 3, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bridget Woodbury, Independent Stage and Production Manager, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in arts management.

Ms. Woodbury has five years of experience as an independent stage and production manager for straight plays, musicals, opera, concerts and other events. Her responsibilities generally include overseeing rehearsals, costumes, projection equipment, lighting, sound, scene shifts, properties tracking and stage blocking. During the 2010-2011 season, she gained valuable experience as the assistant stage manager at the George Mason University Center for the Arts. From 2007 to 2010, she served as chairman of the board of directors for Wildwood Summer Theatre.

Though Ms. Woodbury is a relatively new addition to the field of arts management, she has a fast-growing network of employers and is currently working solely in the field in which she specializes. Rather than seeing her youth as a weakness, Ms. Woodbury regards it as a challenge and an asset. Based in the Washington, D.C., area, she has worked with the Lyric Opera Baltimore, George Mason University Center for the Arts, Round House Theatre, and the Maryland Shakespeare Festival.

Ms. Woodbury earned a Bachelor of Arts in theater, with a focus on stage management, from the University of Maryland in 2010. She attributes her success to her mentors in college, the support she received from her family, and her dedication. She recently became a member of both the American Guild of Musical Artists and Actors' Equity Association, cementing her status as an area professional.

In addition to the skills required of a stage and production manager, Ms. Woodbury is proficient in microphone maintenance operation and sound board operation. In addition, she has light board operation experience, can read music, and is able to work with a conductor. Specific theatrical effects with which she has experience include live firearms, strobe effect, projections, haze, smoke and fog. She is well prepared to handle any emergencies that may come up through her American Red Cross training in first aid, rescue breathing, CPR, and automated external defibrillation. She also has training in fire watch, flyrail, and Genie Lift operation. In the future, Ms. Woodbury hopes to work in a resident position. In addition, she would like to make a contribution in the field of arts advocacy.
