SURREY, ENGLAND, June 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- 94% of Brits intend to access the Internet while on holiday this year, according to a survey by broadband comparison site Broadband Expert, which surveyed 842 people to find out that the British public were reluctant to 'get away from it all' this summer.

The mobile phone is the Internet access method of choice for 47% of people travelling overseas on holiday in the coming months, which is twice the amount that connected to the Internet with a phone compared to two years ago, when the comparison site ran a similar survey.

The survey also revealed that a further 22% of holiday makers will visit an Internet cafe to get online; 17% will gain access with a laptop and mobile broadband dongle and 8% intend to use Wifi. Only 6% of people claimed they wouldn't get online at all during their summer break.

Rob Webber, Broadband Expert's commercial director, says: "The growth in popularity of Smart Phones has made it much easier and more convenient for more consumers to get online while abroad. Couple this with the pull of social media networking, and it seems us Brits are keen to stay connected to the Internet even while taking a well deserved break."

Webber concludes: "The fact that just 6% of people say they wouldn't get online shows that Brits can't bear to be away from sites like Facebook, Twitter, news sites and email; which have become part of the daily routine for so many of us."

The survey was posted on the Broadband Expert site as well as its sister site Mobile Phone Expert.

Broadband Expert and Mobile Phone Expert are part of Richweb Media Ltd, a privately owned UK company that aims to make choosing a broadband package, mobile broadband plan or mobile phone deals an easier and more informed process.
