Broadcast Production Studio Opens in Metro Washington, DC

This versatile sound stage was engineered to make the grueling work of producing TV shows, advertising, movies, music videos, and documentaries easier than ever.

We want to make production easier for our clients, and give them a comfortable, fun place to do their work.

    FAIRFAX, VA, December 18, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Producers who have been underwhelmed by studio options in the Washington DC/Baltimore region now have an exciting new choice--ThunderShot Studios. Conveniently located in Fairfax with easy access to the Beltway and Interstate 66, ThunderShot Studios--just completed and now open for business--is a producer's dream.

This spectacular 60 feet by 40 feet by 16 feet space with 1,000 amps of dedicated studio power and a 180-degree hard cyclorama was designed by two industry insiders who saw ways to improve the production experience and went all out to achieve their vision.

"I've worked in studios for 20 years and most of them have flaws that slow down the work process. That could be anything from inadequate power, noisy air conditioning, bad sound attenuation, or a loading dock with a four-foot ledge that makes moving heavy gear in and out a time-consuming process," said ThunderShot Studios president, Lars Sandvik. "ThunderShot was engineered from the ground up to curb those logistical problems and eliminate the costs associated with them. We want to make production easier for our clients, and give them a comfortable, fun place to do their work."

Sandvik and ThunderShot Studios vice president, Amy Krueger, also outfitted the space with:
- 800 amps of dimmable power distributed throughout the lighting grid and floor panels;
- A powerful, dual air conditioning system that silently cools the studio; and
- Drive-in studio access through a temperature-controlled truck bay that accommodates production vehicles up to 35-feet long.

In addition, ThunderShot Studios has been engineered to an NC-25 sound isolation standard.

If the studio is a delight for crews, Sandvik and Krueger also thought of talent. ThunderShot Studios features an airy green room, along with two make-up rooms, one with a full shower. An audio and narration booth and edit suites along with an HD control room and point-to-point fiber capacity complete ThunderShot Studios' soup-to-nuts approach to production.

The studio also features a spacious break room with free soda and a gourmet coffee system, and its 13-feet by 18-feet AV-ready conference room is available for onsite script revisions and rehearsals.

"People think that media production is glamorous, but the reality is quite different. The days are long and the work can be tedious. Hot lights and heavy sandbags wear you down. Thousands of pounds of equipment have to be deployed, rigged and oh-so-carefully tweaked before the talent hits her mark," said Krueger. "We wanted to ease those burdens by building a serious creative playground, a studio that combines the labor-saving features on everyone's wish list with comfortable support areas that pamper VIPs and crew."

With such exacting attention-to-detail and top-notch commitment to client service, ThunderShot Studios--even as it opens--already is the premier production facility from Baltimore to Richmond.
