He has published extensively on early fossil mollusks, specifically monplacophorans and multi-plated mollusks, as well as on Pre-Cambrian stromatolites and problematica.

    FERGUSON, MO, February 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce L. Stinchcomb, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Stinchcomb has been retired since 2005, having worked at St. Louis Community College as a professor of geology since 1969, an associate professor of geology from 1968 to 1975, and a full professor after 1975. In addition to his geology courses, he taught earth sciences and paleontology. Prior to those roles, he was a teacher of earth science and chemistry at McCluer High School from 1966 to 1968. Earlier in his career, he was a teacher with the Fox C-6 School District and a field geologist with the Missouri Geological Survey from 1962 to 1963. He also worked many summers doing geologic and mineral exploration for various companies and institutions in remote parts of Wyoming and Montana, northern Canada and Alaska.

Dr. Stinchcomb began his career at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (previously the University of Missouri, School of Mines and Metallurgy and the University of Missouri, Rolla), obtaining a BS in geology in 1961. He went on to study at Washington University in St. Louis, receiving an MA in geology in 1966, and returned to Missouri University of Science and Technology to earn a PhD in geology in 1978. He was, for many years, a member of the Paleontological Society and the Geological Society of America. Dr. Stinchcomb was president, 1993, of the Association of Missouri Geologists and Geology Section Chair; Missouri Academy of Sciences, Senior Division, 2006, a founding member of the Eastern Missouri Society for Paleontology and a long time member of the St. Louis Mineral and Gem Society.

A respected voice in the field, Dr. Stinchcomb has published 12 books relating to geology and paleontology, including "World's Oldest Fossils," "Stromatolites: Ancient, Beautiful, and Earth-Altering," "Paleozoic Fossils," "More Paleozoic Fossils", "Paleozoic Fossil Plants," "Meteorites," "Mesozoic Fossils I: Triassic & Jurassic Periods," "Mesozoic Fossils II: The Cretaceous Period," "Cenozoic Fossils 1: Paleogene," "Cenozoic Fossils II The Neogene," "Mineral Treasures of the Ozarks" and "Jewels of the Early Earth: Minerals and Fossils of the Precambrian."

Throughout his career, Dr. Stinchcomb has published extensively on early fossil mollusks, specifically monplacophorans and multi-plated mollusks, as well as on Pre-Cambrian stromatolites and problematica. His refereed technical publications have a focus on the Ozark Uplift of Missouri where he has contributed extensively to its Precambrian, Cambrian and Lower Ordovician paleontological database. He was also responsible for developing a strong geology program on the Florissant Valley Campus. Additionally, he has been tasked with performing reconnaissance and detailed geological mapping in various parts of the Missouri Ozarks, which included Dade and Hickory counties, as well as detailed geological mapping of Missouri's Maxville Quadrangle. Dr. Stinchcomb also has a keen interest in early audio recording technology where he has contributed in various ways to this field including the placement of numerous late 19th century audio recordings on YouTube. In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Stinchcomb has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
