BROMBOROUGH, UK, January 07, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Builderscrap is a completely free website for the construction trade, set up by builders for builders, that aims to facilitate contact between different trades people and help them to use up surplus in the supply chain. It provides an outlet to encourage reuse of material that would otherwise be thrown away. It is a way for the industry to work together to reduce the amount of builders' waste sent to landfill.

There are two ways to upload your surplus materials to the website:

1 Online: Log onto your account and select 'add item', enter details in relevant fields, click 'save' Use 'my items' and 'organisation items' to view, edit and delist items

2 MMS: Using your mobile phone, send a picture MMS message to 07595595595 (save this number in your phone now!), with the item description as the subject, and a description as the message. To edit, you will need to logon to the site, select 'my items' and 'edit'.

Delist items in the same way as with online upload.
(Please note all costs should exclude VAT)

DEFRA statistics show that over 90 million tonnes of construction and demolition waste is produced every year in England and Wales, making up approximately 25% of total waste. At least 13 million tonnes of this refuse is said to be surplus, new material; most of which could be reused, and a further large proportion is second hand product which could also potentially be reused, or recycled. Builderscrap aims to provide a platform for builders and others in the trade to reduce the amount sent to landfill by utilising each others surplus where possible.

The benefits to using this free and easy service include:

* Cost savings - lower disposal charges (fewer skips, landfill tax and labour)
* Cost savings - reduces the need to buy new material
* Help save the environment - less waste sent to landfill, lower carbon emissions
* Potential revenue generation from sale of goods
* Improved company perception and standing
* Be part of a dynamic new brand encouraging the trade to think and act differently
