NEW BRAUNFELS, TX, January 13, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Distracted driving contributes to more than 100,000 crashes in Texas each year, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Tragically, many of those crashes could have been prevented. That's why Burch Law Firm has launched a scholarship program to solicit essays from local students on how to curb distracted driving in Texas.
The Burch Law Firm Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors in Comal County, Hays County and Guadalupe County who have been accepted by a four-year university or college. Students, who will be competing for a total of $4,000 in scholarships, must submit a written essay of no more than 600 words or a video essay of no more than 2 minutes on the topics:
- Why do you think distracted driving has become such an issue among young drivers in Texas?
- And how can we curb distracted driving?
For personal injury attorney Troy Burch
, a native of New Braunfels, this scholarship program goes beyond raising awareness about the problem of distracted driving. It's also about giving back to the community that has given so much to him.
"Higher education is so important, but unfortunately not everyone can afford it," Burch says. "Personally, I was able to attend college and law school in part due to the generosity of community scholarships. Now, I want to pay it forward for the young people in our community."
Students can learn more about the scholarship essay contest and the entry requirements on Burch Law Firm's website
. All entries are due April 5, and winners will be notified by early June.About Burch Law Firm
