SAN FRANCISCO, CA, November 15, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- On Tuesday, November 17, Bay Area and California government, business, and philanthropic leaders will converge to collaboratively explore the private sector role in community disaster preparedness.
Community resilience is everybody's business. Up to 40% of small and non-profit businesses close immediately following a regional disaster. Commerce and supply chain is affected by damage to infrastructure, loss of essential civic services, and the upheaval of employees' lives and well-being. For the business community supporting community disaster resilience is a bottom-line business imperative as well as a matter of socially responsible business practice. The Business of Community Resilience Forum, taking place at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco will address the changing landscape of disaster response and the newly developing role that the private sector - business, non-profit, and philanthropy - is expected to take in community disaster response and recovery.
Stephen Jordan of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Business Civic Leadership Center will kick off the event discussing how supporting community disaster response is a matter of socially responsible business practice. The day will feature a series of interactive panels and open discussions led by Keith Thode - COO of AidMatrix, Peter Ohtaki - Director of the California Resiliency Alliance, and other leaders in the area of private - public sector integration in response to emergency.
Be part of the solution at the Business of Community Resilience Forum on November 17 at the Sir Francis Drake. To find further information and to register now to save your space go to: http://www.bcrforum.com.
The event is free to attendees and brought to the community by Fritz Institute and through the generous support of Pacific Gas and Electric and our other cross-sector community supporters.
