/24-7PressRelease/ - LONDON, UK, June 10, 2006 - Reports from various sources have revealed that more new businesses are starting in Scotland. The new businesses have been up by 22 per cent on the last quarter. The value of deals being made by existing organisations has also grown up considerably.
A report by the Committee of Scottish Clearing bankers has shown that around 5,991 new firms have opened business accounts in the first quarter of 2006. This is an increase of 22 per cent on the previous quarter, and 10 per cent on the same quarter last year.
A separate survey by a magazine called Scottish Business Insider shows that the value of company deals soared from 1.38 billion in the first quarter of last year to 6.31bn.
Professor Charles Munn, of the CSCB, said "increases were the third successive year of first-quarter increases and were fairly consistent across the sectors surveyed".
Andrew Watson, spokesman of Federation of Small Businesses, said "the figures reflected the feel good factor in Scottish business".
Experts are of the view that easy credit through business start up loans can be the reason behind such robust growth.
