/24-7PressRelease.com/ - POCONO MOUNTAINS, PA, April 16, 2005 - The Pocono Mountains, a long-time favorite driving destination for vacationers, anticipates a busy spring/summer season despite continually rising gas prices.

The majority of visitors to the Pocono Mountains come from nearby surrounding areas such as Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware, all of which are a fairly short drive away when compared to other vacation alternatives. Outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and biking, in conjunction with summer events and festivals, family attractions, historical sites, and relaxing mountain escapes promise a busy spring and summer season.

Geoff Sundstrom, spokesman for motorist club AAA says, "We might see consumers reduce the number of days they're out, or visit a destination closer to home, but we've never seen a period when people stopped taking driving vacations, except when there have been gas shortages."

Robert Uguccioni, executive director of the Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau, Inc. supports this statement in regards to the Pocono Mountains as a vacation destination, saying, "In past years, we haven't seen a significant increase or decrease in business in relation to gas prices. We don't expect anything different this year. With so much going on in the four-county Pocono Mountains region, summer is always our busiest season."

The following list outlines current gas prices in areas surrounding the Pocono Mountains according to AAA's web site:

Delaware $2.167 Regular $2.404 Premium
New Jersey $2.076 Regular $2.310 Premium
New York $2.329 Regular $2.544 Premium
Pennsylvania $2.225 Regular $2.449 Premium

A complete list for all states is available at http://www.fuelgagereport.com.

Comprehensive Pocono Mountains visitor information is available online at 800poconos.com or by phone at 800-POCONOS (800-762-6667).
