/24-7PressRelease/ - LONDON, UK, June 24, 2006 - The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has called the government to bring in the proposed Debt Relief Order as it would prove beneficial to people with low incomes and few assets.
Amidst the UK's growing personal debt problem, the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has urged the government to move ahead with its plans to introduce a Debt Relief Order for people with low incomes and few assets.
A report published by the CAB called 'Deeper in Debt' indicates that the people who approach the charity have a debt amounting to 13,153 on an average. This debt is nearly 17.5 times their total monthly household income. The charity dealt with 1.25 million new cases of debt problems in 2005 alone.
The report emphasises the need for Debt Relief Order that would provide a hope to people with low incomes.
The order would help the people having debts that are less than 15,000, less than 50 a month income after essential expenses and assets worth less than 300.
Debt Relief Order would be beneficial for people who are unable to take advantage of other debt solutions like the Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA). An Individual Voluntary Arrangement is a legally binding procedure which allows you to pay off your debts over a number of years.
