Cadet Hughey graduates Recruit Training as Honor Cadet
Austin Hughey graduated Recruit Training for the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and was recognized as Honor Cadet for the entire Battalion. Hughey is a member of the Columbus Ironclad Division of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, which meets in Columbus, GA.

    /24-7PressRelease/ - Columbus, GA, July 18, 2008 - Austin Hughey completed Recruit Training for the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and was recognized as Honor Cadet for the entire Battalion. Hughey is a member of the Columbus Ironclad Division of the NSCC, which meets in Columbus, GA. He will be a senior at Auburn High School this fall. As Honor Cadet, Hughey received the NSCC's Meritorious Recognition Ribbon. Hughey has previously received the First Year Service Ribbon and the Physical Fitness Ribbon. Upon completion of Recruit Training, Hughey was advanced to Seaman Apprentice (E-2) in the NSCC.

Recruit Training is the first two week training that cadets attend in their NSCC career. Each Recruit Training selects only one of the attendees to recognize as Honor Cadet. After completion of Recruit Training, cadet can select from more than 80 other areas of specialized training, including Medical Training, Leadership Academy, Mine Warfare Ops, Master at Arms, Homeland Security, Marksmanship Training, Search and Rescue, and many others. Hughey plans to continue his training this summer at SEAL Training with the Navy SEALs in Florida.

The Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Navy League Cadet Corps are nationwide organizations dedicated to helping American youth realize personal success and achievement through a military oriented training program. Through Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, and Sea Cadet leadership, young Americans ages 10 to 18 can develop interest in basic military skills, while learning the value of patriotism, courage, self-reliance, teamwork and accountability.
