/24-7PressRelease/ - HERTFORDSHIRE, UK, September 11, 2008 - Displaysense, a supplier of display products to the retail industry, is receiving unprecedented enquiries of their wire shelving units from an unlikely audience - guinea pig owners.

In certain pet owner circles word has been spreading about these Displaysense cubed units, as their modular design enables people to create large pens and cages for their furry, feisty creatures.

One such enquiry was from a customer who had recently purchased three young guinea pigs to achieve her dream of breeding her new pets on an animal friendly guinea pig sanctuary. As a Man Utd fan, the one male and two female guinea pigs were named Wayne, Coleen and Alexi, however the customer had noticed that the guinea pigs had begun to viciously fight each other in their cage, resulting in the untimely death of Wayne.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that she had in fact bought three male guinea pigs and their fighting was a result of being in close quarters with each other without having any females.

In order to deal with the situation, the guinea pigs needed to be separated and so a wire shelving unit was purchased, having failed to see anything like it in the pet shops. Displaysense, who supply a range of products to the retail sector, such as business card holders and display cases, was only happy to oblige the animal friendly customer.

The cubes, which are usually used as display stands, can be adjusted and extended with a range of components which are perfect, it seems, for dividing two hostile guinea pigs and creating an ideal shelter.

Steve Whittle, Marketing Manager at Displaysense, commented, "We have noticed a growing trend of customers using our products as pet accessories. One of our customers bought a 300 chrome wire shelving unit to hygienically store pet food".
