/24-7PressRelease/ - LOS ANGELES, CA, August 25, 2005 - Consumers are making numerous allegations that the nationwide electronics retailer, CompUSA, has consistently failed to pay product rebates as promised in their print, radio, TV and in store ads.

CompUSA's marketing and advertising campaigns announce "free after rebate" and other eye-catching rebate promotions for high-dollar items such as computers and other electronics equipment. These sale-inducing promotions are raising complaints and concerns among consumers who have followed rebate guidelines exactly but have had difficulty retrieving their promised refunds. Consumer's claim that rebates of up to several hundreds of dollars were never paid despite numerous inquiries and promises by CompUSA representatives to the contrary. Due to the volume of complaints, there may be substantive evidence of a trend whereby CompUSA is engaging in unlawful consumer practices.

Under California law, false advertising is a serious civil offense. It is alleged that CompUSA has violated media advertising regulations and potentially participated in consumer fraud to induce product purchases. Further, if a pattern of failure to honor rebates can be firmly established in a court of law, it may include both civil and criminal implications of the state and Federal RICO statutes.

Other consumer concerns have been raised over CompUSA's warranty plans, the Technology Assurance Program (TAP) and the failure to uphold written product warranty guidelines.

A Los Angeles law firm is actively investigating these complaints against CompUSA in consideration of a potential legal action. To participate in this process, consumers affected by CompUSA's rebate or warranty practices can complete a formal complaint form at https://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/case/compusa?ref=compusa_pr
