RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA, October 12, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- At this year's Annual Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) presented their State Association Executive of the Year Award to Jess Maxcy, President, California Manufactured Housing Institute (CMHI). Not only does Mr. Maxcy serve as President of CMHI and the CMHI Foundation he has been a board member continuously since 1982.

The award was presented to Mr. Maxcy by Bill Trottier, President, Arizona Housing Association. According to Mr. Trottier, Jess was chosen and honored for five specific reasons: protection of the industry through his government relations, promotion of the industry and his association through consumer awareness campaigns, service to his association's members with dignity and dedication, leadership in the industry at the national level by service on the MHI Financial Task Force and the Executive Council, and community service as exampled by the donation to a disabled Veteran by the CMHI Foundation to pay off his manufactured home.

CMHI is an association of more than 250 companies founded to advance the availability and ownership of quality, high-value homes by promoting the purchase of factory constructed homes and the development of desirable sites and communities in California.

Reorganized in 1986, CMHI is the nation's oldest continuous professional and trade association representing the factory constructed housing industry. First founded in 1937, we have evolved with the industry to become an all-industry association of manufacturers, retailers, finance companies, developers, community owners, suppliers and many others involved in the industry.

One of CMHI's highest priorities is to provide liaison to legislative bodies, such as, State Legislature, Board of Supervisors and City Councils. Additionally, we work with regulatory bodies, such as, the Department of Housing and Community Development, the Department of Transportation, and local planning officials regarding actions affecting housing construction and land development.

A graduate of Mount San Antonio College and California State University, Mr. Maxcy began his career in the manufactured housing industry in California in 1962. His extensive background ranges from Production Worker to Division Vice President. During Mr. Maxcy's nearly 47 years in the industry, he has been instrumental in the development and promotion of manufactured housing. In addition to his industry background, he is a graduate of the Mortgage Banking Program at Cal-State, San Bernardino.

Mr. Maxcy joined Redman Industries, a leading manufacturer of manufactured homes, in 1962. He has worked for Divco-Wayne Industries (Terra Cruiser in Downey) and Fleetwood Homes. He has managed manufactured housing factories in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Arizona, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado and Ohio.
