/24-7PressRelease/ - Kingston, RI, March 21, 2008 - Gottfried "Godi" Fischer, professor for the University of Rhode Island, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of electrical engineering.
Dr. Fischer has more than 20 years of professional experience teaching electronic and computer engineering courses. His areas of expertise include mixed-signal circuit design, analog and digital filters, data converters, phase-locked-loops and low-power CMOS circuits. Dr. Fischer's has worked extensively in the area of acoustic data acquisition and has collaborated with industry and government laboratories on the development of monolithic sonar systems.
Dr. Fischer has been a professor at the University of Rhode Island since 1985. He has taught nearly a dozen different college courses on the undergraduate and graduate levels. The content of these courses range from solid-state devices to materials to circuit theory to electronics to analog and digital integrated circuit design. The author and co-author of approximately 100 scientific papers and journal articles, Fischer's most recent articles are "A Programmable Temperature Monitoring Device for Tagging Small Fish - A Prototype Chip Development" and "A Custom Chip Set for a Frequency-Agile High-Resolution Sonar Array."
Dr. Fischer, the holder of two U.S. patents, received his Doctor of Technical Sciences Degree from ETH Zurich (also known as Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in 1985. In 1978, Dr. Fischer received his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich. He is an affiliated member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and IEEE Communications Society. Dr. Fischer has also been the recipient of two faculty excellence awards from the University of Rhode Island.
